A companion for growing toward Jesus, and loving those closest to you well.
read onMost of us who follow Jesus have a place where we meet Him. A chair in the morning. A walk before the house wakes. On our knees beside the bed. A few quiet minutes before the noise. Something is stirred there, and it is real.
Then we step into the day, and some of it holds, and a lot of it slips. The inbox, the meeting, the kids, the drive. More often than we would like, what He spoke at dawn does not make it far into the day. Being with Jesus holds in the quiet. Becoming like Jesus and doing what He would do get harder once the day begins, because so little of the morning carries across the threshold on its own.
This is the gap becoming exists to close. Not the morning. The rest of the day.
It does not build your morning rhythm. Other apps and ministries do that well, and becoming honors them. It does not hand you another passage, another plan, another chair to sit in.
It takes what you have already received and refuses to let it evaporate. A word, a verse, a conviction, a sense of what He is doing. It holds what the Spirit stirred this morning and threads it through the hours and into the people you are walking with.
Not a productivity app. Not a CRM. Not a habit tracker. Not a devotional. Not a rule-of-life builder. A companion for the one life you are living.
Being with Jesus. Becoming like Jesus. Doing what Jesus would do if He were me.
Left to ourselves, the morning is hard to hold into the afternoon. We have all tried, and often it slips.
What survives the threshold is the Holy Spirit, and He does not stay behind in the chair. There is no hour of your day and no corner of your life where He is not already present and already at work. The word in the morning is His. So is the prompting at noon and the conviction at night. One Spirit, one motion, through the whole day.
So becoming is not trying to help you remember something. It is trying to help you stay awake to the One who is already moving through your day. The carry is His work. becoming only keeps you turned toward it.
One word, carried across the hours. The day has one center, not three.
No two people are being formed in the same thing at the same time. One is learning to rest. Another to pray without hurry. Another to be generous, to keep silence, to welcome people in. becoming lets you name what you are being formed in right now, and it carries that focus across your day.
A practice is a lens for a season, not a curriculum. No finish line, no checklist, no streak. When the season changes, the focus changes. becoming follows your lead. It never assigns the work; it carries the focus you have chosen.
The same Spirit who stirs the word in you draws you toward the people He has put in front of you. So the carry does not end in private reflection. It lands in a relationship. The person you are walking closest with needs what He is forming in you today.
This is how the formation and the people fit together. They were never two things. One motion, through the hours and into the people, and a life lived that way becomes a small, visible glimpse of the world God is making.
What the Spirit stirred this morning, carried into the hours and into the people. One life, all of it His.
There is one life, and all of it is His. No spiritual life over here, work life over there. becoming refuses the divide, and tests every decision against a handful of convictions that do not move.
becoming is being built for the season a few of us are actually living. A new role. A move. Caregiving for a parent. The ordinary work of being a husband and father and friend.
Right now, a small circle is walking with it. Followers of Jesus who are done with the hurried, performing world and want to live differently. People who have read Willard and Peterson and Rohr, and people who have never heard those names but feel the same pull. What they share is not an age or a résumé. It is a hunger for a center that is not anxious.
A wider release is coming this summer. Slowly, by invitation, without losing the center.
If you'd like to walk with it before summer, text me. If you have my number, you're who I'm looking for.
